Putting People at the center
The overall objective of this project is to increase effective participation of communities in the governance and management of natural resources in county governments.
Specifically, the project seeks to enhance community participation in development and implementation of county legislation and policy in county governments. The project targets communities around the Yala Swamp (Busia County & Siaya County).
The project will carry out various activities. These shall include: research on actual avenues for public participation in decision making including laws at the county government level; and awareness creation meetings in villages across the target area among other issues.
It is expected that by the close of the project, there shall be:
- Increased awareness of new devolved governance structures and avenues of public participation in decision making at county government level
- Enhanced participation of communities in decision making regarding natural resource management
