About ILEG
The Institute for Law and Environmental Governance (ILEG) is a non-profit civil society organization. It was established to conduct policy research, advocacy and training with a view to generating new knowledge and influencing the development and implementation of appropriate laws and policies that support sustainable and equitable management of the environment and natural resources in Kenya .
It was created to a fill a major gapthe absence of an independent Kenyan organization for policy research, advocacy and training on legal issues linking environment, governance and sustainable development. Its mission is to enlarge policy choices for sustainable development in Kenya through research, advocacy and training.
ILEG’s objectives are:

To undertake and promote research, capacity development, advocacy and policy outreach activities on sustainable development, environmental justice and security and good governance;

To enhance national and regional capacities to understand and address environmental governance issues and problems;

To initiate and help guide public policy reform processes aimed at improving environmental governance and promoting sustainable development; and
